Erika Freimuth
Managing Editor and Writer
Erika Freimuth, Ph.D., is the managing editor and lead writer for Climate Central’s Climate Matters program. In this role, she manages the long-lead editorial calendar and coordinates the production and publication of each weekly Climate Matters release.

With a scientific background focused on paleoclimate and a passion for science communication, Erika is delighted to work on the Climate Matters program to support local, data-driven, and broadly accessible reporting about climate change impacts and solutions.
Prior to joining Climate Central in 2021, she worked as a scientific editor at Cell Press where she helped launch One Earth, a peer-reviewed journal publishing original research and expert commentary on global environmental change. She holds a Ph.D. in geology from the University of Cincinnati and a B.S. in Earth systems science from Cornell University.
